Out of HongKong...

Our first stop after Hongkong was a brief 7 days in Singapore mainly to settle wedding issues and stock up for our travelling like vaccincation, travelling pills (for altitude sicknesses), gear and so on. It was a terribly hectic, stressful period for both of us. All the appointments were made back to back. I was happy to get out of Singapore after finishing most of our errands. But the worst was not over yet with a 6:40am flight to Hongkong and 22:00pm flight from Shenzhen to CHengdu on the same day. So, we transited for one day in HongKong, running some banking matters and tailoring. Travelled to Shenzhen to get a better deal on airfares. Upon reaching Shenzhen, we were greeted by the agent's respresentatives who were very helpful. They brought us to a waiting room (like a lounge) that even had internet service. The only problem is that since the lounge had glass doors, me and Ross were treated like exhibits, providing entertainment for passerbys. We reached Chengdu at around 00:20am on 25th May. The Chengdu airport was quite impressive and quite advanced. The duitiful travel agent called us up the next morning and arranged to drop off the Tibet visa. He was also quite useful in providing other travel information. We walked around Chengdu a bit and tried their Xiao chi (snacks), which honestly didn't go down very well with both of us. But we were impressed with Chengdu with its high rise buildings and advanced technologies. In Chengdu, we also needed to arrange for the JiuZhaiGou trip right after the 10 day Tibet trip. After asking around at quite a few travel agents, we concluded that we will do the trip ourselves. On that night, Ross booked the Sheraton Resort hotel in JiuZhaiGou at a good rate (RMB550+15%). So we reckon we'll take a bus up there ourselves when we return to Chengdu.
